Products

Major food crops such as corn, soybean, canola, wheat and rice are well-established, high acreage food-use crops.  In certain instances, these row crops also have applications in biofuels.  TGI's yield enhanced row crop products address the fundamental, long-term challenges driving food shortages and an unprecedented rise in food prices. Long-term trends in crop acreage planted as well as yields and production indicate that increasing yield from the same area will be necessary in order to sustain growth and profits for farmers.

Building on the success of Targeted Growth’s technologies in model systems, the company has expanded its programs to include over 150 field trails in canola, corn, soybean, sorghum and camelina. Targeted Growth has demonstrated improvements across a number of crops that have potential to counter the flat yield levels and overall decline in production over the last three decades.

Targeted Growth’s scientifically-driven research and development is being explored in multiple crops, including:

1

Algae

Algae

Due to high oil content, algae hold great potential for use in biofuels. There are thousands of strains of algae, each with unique properties of growth rate and lipid (oil) content- key to biofuels production.

2

Camelina

Camelina A relative of canola, camelina is a specialty oilseed being developed by TGI for use in biodiesel production.
3

Canola

Canola Canola, a cultivar of rapeseed, is most frequently used in animal feed, vegetable oil, and biodiesel.
4

Corn

Corn

Corn is the largest commercial crop in the U.S., grown primarily for cereal and other food products.

5

Soybean

Soybean

Due to its high oil content, soybean is widely used in both food and commercial applications, as well as over 80% of today's biodiesel.

6

Wheat

Wheat Wheat is a widely produced and consumed grain. Over 50% of U.S.-grown wheat is exported to Europe and Asia.
